Danny is a 1971 graduate of Danville High School. For decades he has been a Good Will Ambassador for the Danville Schools and the Danville Board of Education. His love for Athletics and field preparation through volunteering started and has continued through several generations of Danville coaches. Every coach from football to soccer, baseball, girl's softball, and cross-country has felt his love and presence. Simply focusing only on the Rice Mountjoy field, there are more than 80 individual events where Danny has maintained what is considered the finest grass surface in the entire state of Kentucky. Coaches, athletic directors, and members of boards of education, yearly visit Danville sports fields to try to duplicate his results. The University of Kentucky sends representatives from other schools, their classes and students to view his accomplishments. Danny attends classes every year with the professors of the University of Kentucky Turf Management for continuing education.

Danny officially became a full-time employee of the Danville Schools around 1991. The job of maintaining the playing fields is a 24-7, 365-day-a-year responsibility. More simply put, besides sleep, he can always be located on Admiral Turf in the Danville School District. Among Danny's many awards include but are not limited to: In 1998 he received the district-wide Apple Award, presented by the district-wide faculty. This award was in recognition of the hours of volunteerism he gave to the district to benefit all Danville students. In 2002, he received the KSD Distinguish Service Award for years of preparing their playing fields for athletic completion. In 2007, the Danville Board of Education presented Danny with the Ultimate Grounds Keeper Award. In 2009, he received the R. Quinn Bailey Outstanding Award for years of service above and beyond any reasonable contribution. In 2015, Danny was inducted into the Danville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. His induction was honored under the category of Honorary Member. This recognized one's contribution of material or non-material equity that has had a lasting effect on the Athletic program.
