All-State X2 (1941 & 42) as center & linebacker

 All CKC center 1940.

Captain of East team in East-West All Star game in 1941 & was MVP of that game.

Elected as Lineman on DHS All Time 1925-50

Played on UK Freshman team & had excellent year.

 

Coached 1st Boyle Co High School team & was undefeated.

Coached several years in Florida.

 

Amateur boxing heavyweight champion in Oklahoma.

Two time Central Kentucky Conference Champion in the 100M Hurdles and two time Regional Champion in the 60Meter Hurdles and 100Meter Hurdles.

1978 State Track & Field 60Meter Hurdles Runner-up and 100Meter Hurdles Champion.

Currently still holds the high school record in the 60Meter Hurdles and 100Meter Hurdles since 1978.

 

Lettered in Basketball for 3 years and received the most valuable player award for 2 years, All-Tournament Team for 2 years, All-Area in 1977

 

 Attended Western Kentucky University on a Track & Field Athletic Scholarship.

 

1st African American DHS Female to receive a state championship title and athletic scholarship to college.

 

Placed 3rd in the Ohio Valley Conference Track Meet Championship in 1980 for Western Kentucky University."

Earl Ruby quote in C-J, "If Hendren has any weaknesses as a football player we don't know it. He's a fair punter, excellent passer, good blocker, hard tackler, & fast runner & any All State team has to start with him".

Scored 33 TDS & 6 EPs his Senior year.

Back on DHS All-Time 1925-50.

During his 4 years at DHS, 35 wins, 1 tie, 1 loss & team scored 1278 pts & opponents scored 23 pts.

 

Played for Centre College & was 1st Team Little All American.

X1, All CKC, played in State tournament.

While in DHS, Leslie competed in state tournaments in 5 sports.

 

Won Budweiser National Women's Triathlon in 1987 at Hilton Head, SC with 2 others.

There was a Jackson on Danville’s football team for 12 years from the early 50s through the early 60s and a Jackson was a Captain on 6 of those teams. All were outstanding football players.

Chris, Class of ‘52: Football X 4 years. Captain X2.  Hon mention All State X3 (guard X2, end X1). Member of team winning Tobacco Bowl & Youth Bowl.  CKC Co-champs X2 years. Basketball X3 years.  Won 12th Region in 1951& won first round game in State tourney.  On All 12th Regional team in 1952, when DHS was Runner-up in 12th Region.  Football X1 year at Centre.

 

Mack, Class of ‘55: Football X4 years.  Captain.  1st team All-State.  On DHS 1st mythical state champ team in 1954.  Played 1 year at Vanderbilt.

 

Elmer, Class of ‘60:  Football X4 years.  Honorable mention All-State. Captain.  Basketball X 3 years.  Played QB X 3 years at UK & then X 1 year at Centre.

 

Johnny, Class of ‘63: Co- Captain X 2 years.  Football X 4 years. 2nd Team All-State. On DHS 1st State Championship team.  Track 1 y. Swimming 1 year. Played football at Centre College 2 years.
